Ian Backstrom
Ian Backstrom is excited for his return to the TOT stage, last having performed as Ned Failsham in PERCHANCE TO DREAM. Ian is a singer/actor originating from the west coast who got his start singing tenor in the chorus for UBC Opera’s productions of CARMEN and LA TRAVIATA whilst pursuing a BSc in microbiology. With diverse interests and ranges, Ian has since played roles varying from Riff Raff in ROCKY HORROR SHOW (Hart House Theatre) to Algernon Moncrieff in EARNEST: THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING (Summer Opera Lyric Theatre); from two years singing with the fully professional St. James Cathedral choir to voice acting as Christopher for the upcoming audio drama podcast DREAMERS (Broken Crown Productions). Other select companies Ian has worked with include Opera in Concert, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Bard on the Beach, Theatre Under the Stars, Royal City Musical Theatre, Fighting Chance Productions, and Renegade Arts Company.
